Ever find yourself in a mid-afternoon slump, anxiety creeping in, with a mountain of tasks you keep pushing off? Feeling more on edge 1 week before your period? You’re not alone. A lot of women struggle with estrogen dominance that unfortunately can cause anxiety and contribute to procrastination. In this post, I will share with you how you can decrease your estrogen levels with my 3 favourite foods and feel more at peace and also stay more productive:)
How estrogen impacts your mood?
Too much circulating estrogen hugly impacts women’s mental wellbeing. It’s fascinating, and a bit unsettling, how much our hormones influence our mood, energy and productivity.
Did you know that 80% of us ladies experience symptoms related to hormonal imbalance to various degrees? Yep, and a lot of it ties back to estrogen dominance — our hormonal nemesis.

While we women rely on estrogen to embody our femininity, an excess of it can leave us feeling on edge, rendering us the exact opposite of the serene and composed selves we strive to be.
Estrogen dominance in menopause?
Interesting thing, that during menopause, a lot of women struggle with estrogen dominance too (quite often without even knowing it). Yes you are right, estrogen levels drop dramatically in menopause but your progesterone drops usually even more. That means, even with low estrogen levels you can still experience estrogen dominance symptoms like anxiety, poor sleep, weight gain and fatigue. If it comes to hormones and female health, it’s all about ratios.

How to Decrease Estrogen Naturally
Let’s talk solutions. Specifically, food solutions. Because yes, munching on the right stuff can actually help you balance your hormones and your estrogen levels. So, here are my top three go-tos to decrease excess estrogen naturally:
- Carrots: Raw carrots (with skin on) aren’t just crunchy snacks; they’re estrogen bouncers, with a special compound called pectin that helps escorting out the excess estrogen. If eating raw carrot doesn’t sound appealing, make an carrot-apple salad with pumpkin seeds and a bit of olive oil for extra antioxidant boost (also important if it comes to balancing estrogen). You can also add pinch of salt and pepper.
Alternatively, dip carrot sticks in a delicious spread. And here is a recipe for carrot salad with pumpkin seeds
2. Chia Seeds: These tiny powerhouses are the superheroes of soluble fiber and omega 3s. They keep things moving, ensuring estrogen doesn’t overstay in your gut.
Sprinkle them on yogurt, or make a chia pudding for a snack.
3. Broccoli Sprouts: It a REAL superfood! These little guys are packed with sulforaphane. That helps your liver with detox and decreasing excess estrogen levels.
Toss them in your salad or on top of your avocado toast for a nutritional boost that’ll make you feel like you can take on the world — or at least your to-do list.

This is really interesting and relevant information! Thank you for sharing. I never got to study this in my nutrition program. I like your advice about carrots and broccoli sprouts (love sprouts!).
